It is a great graphic and publishing work. It
is the extraordinary sequence of seventh bird's eye views of Venezia, from
the San Marco dock Island of San Giorgio.
The work was created between 1995 and 2006 by
Guido Albanello, as part of a project conceived by the publisher Gilberto
Padovan.
The work follows in an illustrious tradition,
which began with the magnificent woodcut by Jacopo de' Barbari, which bears
the date 1500. And yet it is the first time that the same artist has taken
on such a wide range of views all coordinated together as a part of single
project.
The representation of Venezia over seven sheet
is impressive, a total of eleven metres in length: the largest engraved view
existing of the city.
